North Bend Rail Trail
The North Bend Rail Trail is a 72-mile stretch of abandoned railroad line in Harrison, Doddridge, Ritchie and Wood Counties reclaimed for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and other outdoor activities. The model sections in each of the four counties are complete and surfaced with crushed limestone. Harrison County's five-mile model section runs through the heart of downtown Salem and Depot Park. The entire Rail Trail, an extension of Ritchie County's North Bend State Park, is part of the American Discovery Trail, a 6,000-mile series of connecting trails stretching coast to coast from California to Delaware. The North Bend Rail Trial is open and free to the public year round.
