WHO ARE WE ?
The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit group of volunteers. We derive our strength form the diverse background of our members. This background brings us ideas that develop into projects that impact our area.  Our membership is open to the public.  We might be lawyers, students,    educators, retirees, contractors, doctors, housewives, ministers, merchants, restaurant owners, farmers, moms or  dads!  We have one thing in common - the belief in Salem that drives us to improve the quality of life in our area ! We formed in 1979 and this is who we are……

Welcome to our newest members: Keith Bullion, Norma VanScoy, Fred Spencer, MD, West Union Bank; Bobby Samples; Mark Kiger, CPA; Al Swiger; & SunBridge Salem

OUR NEXT MEETING
Next Meeting:
April 21, 2008
Time :           6:30 PM

Location :      Erickson Alumni Center

TOPIC:          SBA presents STARTING A SMALL BUSINESS

OUR PURPOSE
The Chamber is organized for the purpose of advancing the  commercial, industrial, financial, educational, agricultural, professional and civic  interests of Salem and adjacent territory;  for promoting uniformity in     commercial  usage;  to acquire preserve and distribute statistics and  information of  value; to  discover and correct abuses;  to cooperate with others in this area in the  consideration and determination of city, county,  state and national issues
.

WHO CAN JOIN
Any person, corporation, firm, partnership, foundation or area resident interested in the objectives of the Chamber shall be eligible for membership.  Two area's often considered when contemplating membership are how much time is involved and what does it  cost ?  We meet on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 PM.  By meeting monthly we do not overburden our members time.  Of course, more time is spent by any member choosing to become  involved with a project of great interests. Our annual membership fee is $ 36 for businesses and $ 30 for individuals.  We look at it as a small investment in our area.  We rarely have fund raising projects.  We accomplish our projects on a very small annual budget funded by our dues, grants and donations.  Many of our projects are co-sponsored by area businesses. We also have an associate membership fee of $ 24. This is reserved for a spouse of member or an employee of a business member.
