ARTICLE I NAME AND OBJECTIVE
SECTION 1.0 NAME: This organization shall be known as Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc. It is sometimes hereinafter referred to as the "Chamber".
SECTION 2.0 PURPOSE : The Chamber is organized for the purpose of advancing the commercial, industrial, financial, educational, agricultural, professional and civic interests of Salem and adjacent territory; for promoting uniformity in commercial usage; to
acquire preserve and distribute statistics and information of value; to discover and correct abuses; to cooperate with others in this area in the consideration and determination of city, county, state and national issues.
ARTICLE II MEMBERSHIP
SECTION 1.0 ELIGIBILITY: Any person, corporation, firm, partnership, foundation or estate resident interested in the objectives of the Chamber shall be eligible for membership.
SECTION 2.0 APPLICATION: Any potential member shall complete a membership application as provided by the Chamber. 2.1 RENEWAL : Membership shall renew January 1 of each year without reapplication upon continued payment of dues.
SECTION 3.0 REPRESENTATIVE: Except for personal membership, every corporation, firm partnership, foundation or estate representative shall designate a representative in their membership. 3.1 CHANGE OF REPRESENTATIVE: The member can change the designated representative by notifying the Secretary of the
Chamber in writing.
SECTION 4.0 ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP: A spouse of any personal member or employee of any business member can join the Chamber may join as an Associate Member.
4.1 Associate Members shall have full voting rights and benefits afforded all members. 4.2 The dues shall be discounted from the Regular Dues Schedule
SECTION 5.0 TERMINATION: Any membership will be terminated upon death of member, discontinuance of business, failure to pay dues, expulsion or resignation. 5.1 FAILURE TO PAY DUES: Any member failing to pay dues within three (3) months after maturity shall be considered delinquent and not a member in good standing. The Chamber shall provide notice of the delinquency. The membership shall be expelled for failure
to pay dues but not until thirty (30) days after the notice. 5.2 EXPULSION: The Board of Directors by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of
its entire membership can expel any member for conduct unbecoming a member. The member in question shall be notified in writing and allowed opportunity for hearing before the Board prior to the vote
